with much joy and fun, started the day of celebration of World Day for Handwashing held on October 15, Peru school in the capital of the Dominican Republic. The event began with the Dominican National Anthem which was sung by hundreds of children accompanied by their teachers. Subsequently, the Clean Hands team, led by the characters "drop", "soap" and "hand", taught the children and girls the proper way to wash your hands, through a children's song that said: "From now on I do not become ill, the bacteria that scares me not to play again."

The Clean Hands team was composed of members of the UNICEF office in the country, the characters in the campaign and supporters. The team arrived early hours in a number of freight vehicles to condition the schools with sound, video, and mobile washing. Water and energy were supplied by a water truck and a mobile power plant.

The school principal welcomed them to the children who began to worry about touching the giant puppets. The soap was a favorite of children. Is it because it is almost imperceptible in the bathrooms of the Dominican public schools?. Guadalupe Valdez, Secretary of Community Involvement Ministry of Education, reminded the commitment that teachers have with their students to encourage them to wash their hands always and everywhere to prevent the spread of disease. Mrs. Françoise

When asked when they should wash their hands, they responded with great energy: "Forever!". Sign that the message was coming. Thus began the instant practice of handwashing with soap and water for children.

In rows of two approached the wash to lather up, throw enough water and dried with paper towels. washing hands with soap and water reduces the transmission of diseases such as diarrhea, respiratory infections, intestinal parasites and infections of the skin and eyes. After the ceremony at the school, the Team Clean Hands continued to tour schools Haiti, Honduras and Benito Juarez, which developed the same program throughout the day.
