Handwashing done Validation Workshop on Strategy




February 25 was performed in a validation workshop on the National Strategy Handwashing in Nicaragua. The workshop was conducted by the Ministry of Health (MOH) with support from World Bank and SDC.

participated in the workshop about 40 people, including doctors, advocates, journalists and technicians from the Ministry of Health, who were responsible to analyze and validate the strategy, which was prepared by an interdepartmental working group with technical support from a consultant.

The validation workshop was threefold: 1) Provide feedback and adjust the proposed strategy from the reflection and input from participants, 2) Get input for the design of a plan of action in the short, medium and long term; 3) To acquaint participants with the Technical Standards and Guidelines for the use of antiseptics, disinfectants and hand hygiene.

In the first part of the workshop was presented to Care assistants Model Family and Community Health, then Dr. Sergio López Cruz, a consultant for USAID, announced the Technical Standards and Guidelines for the use of antiseptics, disinfectants and hand hygiene, then Zaira Pineda, consultant to the Center Research and Health Studies (CIES) presented the results of the first projects developed on Handwashing in Nicaragua and finally Maritza Obando, representative of the Ministry of Health introduced the Strategy for Handwashing.
