Se realiza Primera Video Conferencia sobre Lavado de Manos

Last July 31 we made a video conference for all countries of the region, for the following purposes: 1) Know the level of progress of Handwashing Initiative and Hygiene in each country, 2) Strengths and weaknesses encountered in the implementation of the Programme and support required, 3) Steps (projections).

were invited to all focal points and support committees in each country, including cooperating offices (PAS / PAHO, WB, SDC and UNICEF.) You invited Rocio Florez, Coordinator of the Initiative for washing hands PAS / BM in Peru.

Ahead of information was sent on the Video Conference to all strategic partners in each country, turned call, program was developed and contacted through telephone calls to all focal points to give information on how to prepare the country presentations. The Video Conference was held with the participation of 5 countries: Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama and Dominican Republic. Absent were the representatives of Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Within the agenda developed in the Video Conference, was an overview of the Regional Coordinator PROMAS, who outlined the progress and achievements of the initiative, and the steps to follow in the coming months. Then each participating country made a presentation explaining their progress, strengths and weaknesses, needs de apoyo y pasos a seguir. Posteriormente Rocío Florez, Coordinadora de la Iniciativa de Lavado de Manos del PAS/BM en Perú, compartió algunas experiencias y lecciones aprendidas en la implementación de la misma. A la vez puso a la disposición algunas materiales educativos que ya han sido formulados, instrumentos de monitoreo y evaluación y apoyo técnico a los países que lo requieran. Posteriormente se dejo un tiempo abierto de preguntas y respuestas y luego se hizo el cierre.

Algunos de los acuerdos alcanzados fueron:
- Promover este tipo de encuentros virtuales con regularidad, ya sea en forma telefónica o a través de video conferencia, pues con ello se contribuye a fortalecer los procesos de comunicación in the region and the exchange of experiences and knowledge between countries.

- Pandemic Influenza H1N1 has become an opportunity to promote and position Handwashing large scale. We must be aggressive to take advantage of the spaces.
- There is a wealth of knowledge and materials within the region that can be shared, thus contributing to knowledge management and reducing costs.
