May 7, 2009 . Hands Program, Water and Health (PROM), with technical support from PAHO, has been developing educational tools to advance the practice of handwashing as a preventive measure and mitigate against the emergence of influenza A/H1N1.
With support from the Abracadabra Theater Group, has prepared a puppet show focusing on the practice of handwashing and the proper ways to coughing and sneezing, which was presented as a trial, on May 7 in the auditorium Nursing of the Ministry of Public Health and Welfare of El Salvador (MOH). At this meeting representatives from the areas of community health, nursing, communications, children, health promotion MOH, representatives of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) headquarters Washington and El Salvador; representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Executive Secretary COMISCA, the Regional Programme for Food Security and Nutrition for Central America ( PRESANCA), representative of the Corporation of Municipalities of the Republic of El Salvador (COMURES), among others.
The work seeks to promote proper hand washing as a preventive action to reduce the risk of transmission of H1N1 influenza virus. This presentation has as its main audience of children, but, in turn, can be presented to youth and adults in communities massively since it aims to measure the proper hand washing as a means to practice hygienic habits that ensure the health and create a behavioral change in implementing this strategy personas.La begin in El Salvador and later be replicated throughout Central. The strategy aims to train young volunteers, who by their proximity to auidencias have the ability to convey the message effectively. In addition to this tool that will be useful in the field of health promotion, is also preparing a radio soap opera, the content will focus on prevention and mitigation of the virus.
